The first female State's Attorney in county history, Ashley L. Lies was elected Eddy County State's Attorney and sworn in to office in January 2019 for a four (4) year term. 

While in office, Ashley serves as legal counsel and advisor to the county while representing the State of North Dakota in criminal cases acting as prosecutor. Her duties consist generally of criminal prosecution, juvenile justice, mental health commitments, and providing legal guidance to county officials. The scope of her duties are outlined in N.D.C.C. Chapter 11-16.
